Siddha System of Wellness
We had previously mentioned about wellness the siddha way. In 1998 the Government of India established the National Institute of Siddha, an apex Institute for Siddha medicine to produce best quality physicians, teachers, and researchers of Siddha. It became operational in 2004/05 and it is primarily an institute for conducting postgraduate courses in 6 specialities of siddha, namely:
Maruthuvam - General Medicine
Gunapadam - Pharmacology
Sirappu Maruthuvam - Special Medicine
Kulanthai Maruthuvam - Paediatrics
Noi Naadal - Pathology
Nanju Noolum Maruthuva Neethi Noolum - Toxicology & Forensic Medicine
One of the objectives of the Institute is to provide medical care through the siddha system of medicine to the suffering humanity, as such their facilities are open to the public. The medical care provided is in the 6 specialities of siddha mentioned above.
