One of our goals is to help Malaysian women become entrepreneurs, especially retail entrepreneurs, wellness entrepreneurs, spice entrepreneurs, agropreneurs or for that matter any type of entrepreneur of their choice. And to motivate our Malaysian women to seriously take up entrepreneurship, as promoted by our Malaysian government, we have been searching the Internet for resources to be shared with aspring women entrepreneurs. And as luck would have it, we came across a magnificent article in the www.sitagita.com website. This Indian based website is dedicated to the empowerment of women and we salute them for their commitmnet to the cause. The article below, copied from their webiste, is worth a thousand read:

Women Entrepreneurs
The number of Women entrepreneurs in India may be small (statistics put it somewhere close to 10-12%) but it is gradually becoming a force to reckon with. Women entrepreneurs are defined as a group of women or individual, coming together to run a business enterprise. But, do women make better entrepreneurs? Undoubtedly, the answer is “Yes!” What does it take to get women to become Entrpreneurs?

Why do women make better entrepreneurs?
Women are naturals when it comes to multitasking. They can deftly handle home, business and entrepreneurship.
Women are a very valuable resource, but remain untapped till date.
Women entrepreneurs are more cautious, and will usually take “calculated” risks.
They can balance family life and earning a living
Women are naturals at building relationships
They are master communicators.
They are blessed with problem-solving skills
Women have better natural management skills, without ever having gone to any B-School!
How can more women become entrepreneurs?
More women should be encouraged to set up business and grow into employers and become wealth generators
Most women need to be convinced that “they can”. Motivational groups, success stories, role models and women’s organizations can all make a difference.
Women need to be educated in finance, running or setting up a business etc
Women should identify and exploit opportunities
Women make great entrepreneurs, but most don’t have the confidence r the time. Effective time management can teach them how to get the best of both – work and home.
Financial institutions and banks should do more to encourage women to set up their own business.

Women suffer from a mindset that family comes first. Yes, it does, but women can most often, effectively manage both. Running your own business may be tough and at times stressful beyond belief but success and a growing bank balance make it worth it.

Given the right opportunity, there is no reason why a woman cannot become a successful entrepreneur! Go for it!
